Overall monitor system control is extremely useful in a 2.1 system and essential in a surround system. Blue Sky’s new Audio Management Controller (AMC) builds on our previous-generation Bass Management Controller, and adds many new capabilities. The AMC provides precise, centralized control over levels, balance, mute, selection of house curves, and various other system configuration settings. The AMC is fitted with a big weighted “old-school” rotary control for primary adjustments as well as additional hardware controls via lighted buttons, and a large display screen. The AMC is an 8-channel DSP-based system and supports configurations up to 7.1. Any input can be routed to any output and multiple inputs can be mixed and routed to any outputs. Each channel features 1/3 octave EQ, 8 bands of parametric EQ and filters, and variable delay for time alignment. Other features include 8 system presets (EQ curves, etc.), lip sync delay, 7.1 bass management with variable cutoff frequency per channel, and an externally-accessible mute input.

The Bass Channel has a 10 band parametric equalizer. The Digital inputs have a built-in sample rate converter, which can be bypassed in Pure-Digital mode for 48 kHz/96 kHz operation. The Digital I/O is AES/EBU 110 ohm balanced transformer coupled. Analog I/O is balanced, and nominal input levels are selectable between +4dBu and -6dBu.

Using the best of today’s advanced digital electronics and transducer innovations, the Star System One is the finest monitoring system Blue Sky has ever offered, and challenges the best available technology from any manufacturer.

While there are lots of monitors out there that sound “awesome”, there are far fewer that have been designed to let you hear a surgically precise rendering of what’s “in the wires”. Blue Sky has always focused on precision and accuracy, and the Star System One takes this to a much higher level. Our passion for accuracy is one reason why Blue Sky monitoring systems are used by some of the top facilities in the business.

All Star System One configurations are built using SAT 6Ds, which are full-range/satellite systems, and our subwoofer, the Sub 12D. The Sat 6D can be configured as a full-range system (when a sub is not utilized) through selectable DSP low-pass filters and a rear port with a removable plate.

A great monitor system will not deliver the goods in an acoustical environment that degrades accuracy with its own frequency response problems, and these can be quite pronounced in all but the finest acoustically-designed rooms. Let’s face it, a lot of the rooms that pros find themselves working in these days, particularly in mobile television production, are – ahem – sub-optimal. Blue Sky provides tools to precisely optimize and calibrate the system’s performance in your working environment, helping to compensate for these problems. Each SAT 6D and Sub 12D has powerful built-in processing with full 1/3 octave graphic EQ plus 8 bands of parametric EQ and filters. And these tools are remarkably easy to use, thanks to Blue Sky’s Speaker Manager PC software, which is included with every system.

Blue Sky’s Speaker Room Optimization (SRO) room measurement tools enable optimal correction of room problems and system calibration to house curves. Working in tandem with the Blue Sky Speaker Manager software and our proprietary Binary Organic Optimization (BOO) software, the SRO system calculates the optimal EQ settings needed to precisely achieve the response curve you provide, running in the background through thousands of permutations to find the individual EQ band settings that produce the best overall result.

Of course, a great monitor system must have great components. The SAT 6D features a USA-designed-and-built 6½“ cast frame woofer with a radial neo motor, a 1” Scan-Speak ring radiator tweeter made in Denmark (where many of the world’s great tweeters are born and bred), and 450-watts of Hypex UcD amplifier power with trickle down N-core technology. The Sub 12D utilizes a custom 12” cast-frame woofer with a ferrite motor and a 400 watt Class D amplifier. Despite its compact size, the Sat 6D is capable of clean, low-distortion output of up to 108 dB SPL and when operated at typical monitoring levels, the SAT 6D is cool, calm and collected.

Quality and flexibility have been built into every facet of the system. The Sat 6D and Sub 12D feature Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24 Bit A/D & D/A conversion, Cirrus Logic digital receivers/sample rate converters, as well as a Pure-Digital mode for 48 kHz/96 kHz operation, which bypasses sample rate conversion. The Sub 12D features built-in digital 2.1 bass management with variable crossover frequencies and high and low pass filters. The DSP crossover filters and (woofer/tweeter) time alignment are derived using Blue Sky proprietary BOO optimization software. Both the SAT 6D and Sub 12D have a USB data port allowing our Speaker Manager Software to control EQ, time delay, gain, pink noise and system updates. The Sat 6D and Sub 12D are designed and assembled in the USA.

SDI xNode

The SDI xNode builds upon the success of the popular Axia xNode series of interfaces by bridging HD/SD-SDI audio channels into the Livewire+ and AES-67 Audio over IP domain. Audio from dual HD/SD-SDI inputs is available to the AoIP network, or can be shuffled and re-embedded into the SDI outputs. Compensating video delay for each SDI input maintains audio/video sync.

For the first time, facilities can now take advantage of fully distributed I/O and Audio over IP for HD/SD-SDI signals to allow incredibly flexible audio routing and distribution. Combine with AERO.soft and other types of xNodes as necessary (AES, analog) for a completely distributed, scalable, high-density, and future-resistant audio processing solution.

Drawing upon the success of its predecessors in the UPMAX® line, this compact, lightweight, and rugged unit produces stunning 5.1 channel audio from two-channel sources and is perfectly suited for OB trucks and post-production facilities.

Offering AES and auto-sensing HD/SD-SDI I/O, the UPMAX v4 combines the renowned UPMAX® upmixing/downmixing algorithm with AutoMAX-II™ auto-detection for seamless transitions between stereo and native surround input sources, producing an upmix that is completely downmix compatible.

The UPMAX v4 comes standard with a built-in ITU loudness meter, dual power supplies, internal relay bypass, SNMP monitoring, and a monitor section with calibration tones and pink noise, eight +4dBu balanced analog outputs, and volume, mute, and return to reference control.

A remote volume and GPI I/O control is optional.

Next Generation PCM and Dolby® Encoded Audio Generation and Analysis. The Linear Acoustic MT2000 Multichannel Bitstream Analyzer is an efficient tool for end-to-end system testing and is the ideal next generation replacement for the original Dolby® DM100.

The Linear Acoustic MT2000 Bitstream Analyzer is a portable, handheld diagnostic tool that can monitor and generate Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby E, and PCM bitstreams. With its built-in test-signal generator, the MT2000 allows audio system integrators and service engineers to quickly monitor and check the integrity and composition of Dolby encoded and PCM signals routed through production, broadcast, cable, and satellite facilities, or even a home theater system.

The Linear Acoustic MT2000 accepts signals via AES, TOSLINK™ Optical, HD/SD-SDI, DVB-ASI, and MADI I/O plus HDMI in. The unit identifies the format of the selected input signal and activates the appropriate built-in decoder. Monitoring capabilities include error detection at the AES3 layer and within the coded audio layers, including SMPTE 337 formatting information and Dolby E guard band position.
